Must dos

Giraffe face-to-face

Marwell's popular Giraffe face-to-face experience allows you to become a keeper and get up close with your favourite Savannah animals. During the experience, you will be offered the chance to feed the giraffes and learn more about the way they live.

Penguin face-to-face

If giraffes aren't your cup of tea, why not get up close and personal with some funny, flippered friends and meet the penguins at Marwell Zoo? You will have the chance to feed the penguins their favourite fish and get to know the animals on a more personal level.

Children's outdoor play

Marwell Zoo offers some excellent play areas for your little ones to let off some steam and have some fun. The two play areas at Marwell Zoo are packed with fun equipment, including swings, slides and climbing frames.

What other facilities are there?

Animals

If you don't wish to pay for a face-to-face animal experience, your Marwell Zoo tickets will still give you access to over 149 species that enjoy the attention of visitors and are always up to something cheeky! The zoo hosts a range of animals from all over the globe, including hippos, rhinos, leopards and even tigers.

Food and drink

You certainly won't get hungry on your trip to Marwell Zoo! There are plenty of delicious cafes and eateries to satisfy your taste buds, including the Graze Cafe, the Ice Cream Pod and the Coffee Shop.

What age group is Marwell Zoo suitable for?

Marwell Zoo is a great day out for the whole family. For adults and older kids, you could spend time learning about different species and perhaps even feeding some of your favourite animals. Little ones will love running around in the play areas, riding on the zoo train and seeing some of their favourite animals in real life.

When is the best time to visit Marwell Zoo?

Marwell Zoo is open all year round, except Christmas Day and Boxing Day. The best time to visit is during the spring when animals are most active, and the weather is nice - you may even see some babies being born!

What else can you do in the area?

Paultons Park

Just a short drive from Marwell Zoo is the famous Paultons Park which is home to Peppa Pig World. Paultons is great for younger kids and has several excellent rides for the whole family to enjoy.

Winchester Cathedral
